The Czech Republic takes its roast pork seriously, and this pizza does it justice. Tender slices of roasted pork sit on a tomato and mozzarella base with a surprising scatter of poppy seeds that adds a subtle nuttiness and lovely crunch. It is hearty, savoury, and distinctly Central European.
Originally created as the Czechia entry for DeliVita's Euro 2024 pizza series, this works beautifully with leftover roast pork - in fact, that is the best way to make it. The pork is already cooked and full of flavour, so it just needs the heat of the oven to warm through and pick up a little char at the edges.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough ball
- Flour for dusting
- 50g tomato pizza sauce
- 100g fresh mozzarella, torn
- 100g cooked roast pork, sliced
- 5g poppy seeds
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Fire your pizza oven to 400-450 degrees.
- Stretch the dough to about 12 inches on a well-floured surface.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the base, leaving a border for the crust. Scatter the mozzarella and drizzle with olive oil.
- Arrange the roast pork slices across the surface, then scatter the poppy seeds evenly. Season with salt and pepper.
- Slide into the oven and cook for 60-90 seconds, turning frequently. The pork should warm through and the poppy seeds will toast lightly in the heat.
