Ukraine's national dish reimagined as a pizza - sliced chicken Kiev on a tomato and mozzarella base. The garlic butter from inside the Kiev melts out as the pizza cooks, mingling with the cheese and creating the most incredible garlicky, buttery sauce. It is comfort food taken to another level.
Originally created as the Ukraine entry for DeliVita's Euro 2024 pizza series, the trick is using a pre-cooked chicken Kiev, sliced thickly enough that the garlic butter centre is still intact when it goes on the pizza. The oven heat melts that butter out across the surface - it is genuinely brilliant.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough ball
- Flour for dusting
- 50g tomato pizza sauce
- 100g fresh mozzarella, torn
- 1 cooked chicken Kiev, sliced
- Fresh basil
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Fire your pizza oven to 400-450 degrees.
- Stretch the dough to about 12 inches on a well-floured surface.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the base, leaving a border for the crust. Add fresh basil leaves, then scatter the mozzarella and drizzle with olive oil.
- Arrange the sliced chicken Kiev across the surface. Season with salt and pepper.
- Slide into the oven and cook for 60-90 seconds, turning frequently. The garlic butter from the Kiev should melt out and pool around the cheese - that is exactly what you want.
