Hungarian Paprika Chicken Pizza
Hungary and paprika are inseparable, and this pizza puts that gorgeous smoky spice front and centre. Sliced roast chicken dusted with smoked paprika sits on a classic tomato and mozzarella base - it is simple, warming, and the paprika gives it a beautiful colour and depth of flavour that you do not get from most pizza toppings.
Originally created as the Hungary entry for DeliVita's Euro 2024 pizza series, this one has become a regular in our rotation. The smoked paprika blooms in the intense heat of the pizza oven, intensifying its flavour in a way that a conventional oven just cannot match.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough ball
- Flour for dusting
- 50g tomato pizza sauce
- 100g fresh mozzarella, torn
- 100g cooked roast chicken, sliced
- 10g smoked paprika
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Fire your pizza oven to 400-450 degrees.
- Stretch the dough to about 12 inches on a well-floured surface.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the base, leaving a border for the crust. Scatter the mozzarella and drizzle with olive oil.
- Arrange the sliced chicken across the surface and dust generously with smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper.
- Slide into the oven and cook for 60-90 seconds, turning frequently. The paprika will deepen in colour and the chicken should pick up a light char at the edges.
